West End director Simon Greiff to direct ‘Carrie: The Musical’

We’re incredibly delighted to be welcoming immensely talented director and actor Simon Greiff to MGA later this Spring! He will be working with our third-year Musical Theatre students, directing their production of Carrie: The Musical with our very own Simon Hanson as Musical Director.

Simon trained as an actor at THE CENTRAL SCHOOL OF SPEECH AND DRAMA, and for over twelve years worked in award winning Theatre, BAFTA winning television and film, and created leading roles in the West End and across the UK. He also has experience in producing, casting, has worked as a dramaturg, and as an acting coach.

Credits as Director: PICTURE PERFECT (The Other Palace, premiere) which he also conceived, PAYBACK (Riverside Studios, premiere), STAND TALL A ROCK MUSICAL (45th Street Theatre New York and Landor Theatre London, premiere), A SONG CYCLE FOR SOHO (Soho Theatre, premiere) which he also co-created, THE PORK CRUNCH (Pleasance Theatre, premiere), the Off-Broadway musical STRIKING 12 (Waterloo East Theatre, European premiere), RUMPY PUMPY! (Theatre Royal Windsor, premiere) and GIRL IN A CRISIS (Crazy Coqs at Zedel, premiere).

Showcase/Readings include: TYRELL (Turbine Theatre as part of MTFestUK 2020), RARE BIRDS The Voices Of Holloway Prison (Soho Theatre) which he also devised, WILDWOOD (Ambassador Theatre Group), Stiles & Drewe’s ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN! which he also conceived, VAN WINKLE and BEFORE AFTER (all at The Other Palace), SOUL MATES (Stratford East as part of BEAM 2018), THE CHIEF (Finborough Theatre). Simon was an associate member of Mercury Musical Developments, having directed their star-studded 20TH ANNIVERSARY GALA (Novello Theatre) and directed/produced THE S&S AWARD GALA 2014 and 2015 (The Other Palace).

As well as visiting MGA, Simon also leads masterclasses and workshops at Royal Central School, Royal Welsh College, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Arts Ed London, Associated Studios, American College Dublin, Southampton University, Irish College of Musical Theatre and Guildford School of Acting.

Credits as Resident Director: WE WILL ROCK YOU (UK/Ireland Tour 2009), the 40th anniversary production of THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW (UK/Ireland Tour 2013), MONTY PYTHON’S SPAMALOT (UK/Ireland Tour) and FUNNY GIRL (UK/Ireland Tour) starring Sheridan Smith.
