Student Experience: Gemma
2010 Graduate, Musical Theatre
I love MGA! I took my first MGA dance class in early 2008 and since then they couldn’t get rid of me! I feel so proud to have watched and been a part of this company’s growth, joining Fierce when it first began to go onto being one of the first MGA Full-Time students, to being one of MGA Management’s clients. Without MGA I wouldn’t be where I am today!
I graduated from MGA in 2010. Since then I have toured Europe as a dancer and singer on two separate occasions. I have worked for Grayboy Entertainment in Sydney, Australia for two seasons, as singer/dancer on board two separate ships. I have worked for companies such as Qudos Entertainment and Imagine Theatre, and have just finished a run of Fame in which I played Iris.
I have watched my closest friends, with whom I trained and graduated at MGA, go on and work all over the world as dancers, singers and models for companies such as Universal Studios, World Wide Events, Beyond Broadway Productions and a whole lot more. One has just finished touring the UK in Hairspray and another is about to embark on a European arena tour of Grease! Personally, I’m currently in the international tour of Mamma Mia understudying the role of Sophie. What do we have in common? The MGA Academy of Performing Arts.
MGA is unique. It’s both a centre of excellence with some of the best training and student opportunities available in Scotland and yet small enough to offer each student a training and an experience that is tailored to their individual needs. All the staff are so dedicated to getting the best out of all their students, putting so much into preparing them for this industry and are also some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. I’d recommend MGA to anyone as training with MGA was one of the best decisions i’ve ever made, you’ll honestly not regret it. I’m just sad that I had to graduate and leave the place!
