One-year Advanced Courses
MGA advanced courses are designed especially for performers who have already completed a full-time training course but have realised that they are not adequately prepared to compete for work opportunities within the industry
MGA currently offers three courses for students at this level:
- Musical Theatre
Advanced professional development training at MGA
Courses are designed to build on your personal strengths and identify and understand your weaknesses, enabling you to re-focus your efforts and make a success of your career. Although students on these courses have usually already completed a full-time performing arts programme, this is not a requirement. You may be struggling to get auditions because of a lack of contacts or failing to secure employment due to lack of skills. You may simply know that your current level of ability is not marketable and are looking to re-launch yourself as a professional performer with new levels in skill and understanding of the industry.
If you relate to any of those scenarios then this course is for you! With an emphasis on professional development, technique in performance and confidence building, the year that you spend with MGA will be worth its weight in gold.
Advanced places are available on each of the Acting, Musical Theatre or Dance courses.
All MGA Full-Time students are expected to have the following equipment – a definitive list will be discussed at audition stage.
- MGA Full-Time uniform
- Jazz trainers/shoes
- Tap shoes
- Ballet tights, leotard and shoes
- Knee pads
- Dictaphone, notepad and pencil
- Boys will also need a pair of dress shoes and a black suit
- Girls must have a pair of character shoes and character skirt, and a black cocktail dress
A reading list will be provided to all students accepted into Full-Time training.
Incoming students immediately join current diploma students in their third year. Here you will benefit from MGA’s unique training in professional and personal development to further your entry into the industry, and participate in advanced performance classes and specialist workshops from visiting professionals.
- Access to professional and personal development classes
- Training in audition technique
- Participation in advanced performance classes, as appropriate to your course focus (acting, singing, dancing)
- Auditioning and participating in performances and productions through a three-term academic year
